There are reports of B
anthracis resistant to penicillin. High-dose penicillin combined with
streptomycin, or parenteral ciprofloxacin, should be used for treating
patients with meningitis or inhalational anthrax. Erythromycin, chloramphenicol, clindamycin, first-generation cephalosporins,
aminoglycosides, and vancomycin are effective.
